Marcia Conner's Advisory Services

I work with organizations across the United States and abroad who desire to accelerate talent readiness and dramatically increase involvement through online, in-person and peer-driven programs.

With increasing frequency, organizations have sought help applying my knowledge of generational demographics to their new social media initiatives, ensuring online communities, micro-messaging, and software as services add real value to their digital dinosaurs.

Collaborating with client managers, I assess what people can do today and prepare them to do more tomorrow -- across all ages and comfort zones.

Specific services have involved overhauling corporate education operations,  reinventing enterprise learning to appeal to younger learners (while not sacrificing older learners' productivity), uses Web 2.0, mobile and open source tools, developing leadership strategies to dramatically increase the revenue generated through learning initiates while cutting costs, and improving the level of strategic thinking about learning among IT, HR and education teams.

Although many consultants see their final deliverable as a presentation or a report, I work with clients to put into motion the recommendations we come to together and help organizations quickly see actual performance results. In practice, that means preferring to work with client organization members as integral parts of the team we assemble for an assignment. I also seek to involve as many key stakeholders as possible. My goal is to catalyze change and action, not just deliver a new blueprint.

If you are interested in my help with something not listed here, please contact me. I have provided other services including group facilitation and team coaching, to training workshops, as well as focus groups and learnability testing. I welcome a chance to hear from you about your situation.

My advisory services tap into topical areas where I have specialized knowledge you aim to gain. For example, if you are a new chief learning officer interested in understanding the human capital landscape I would introduce you to practices and research that would jump-start your impact in your organization. If you're a seasoned non-profit executive director seeking for-profit trends that you might apply to your organization I could help you identify those that would further your organization. If you are a busy parent seeking strategies to integrate your work life and your family life in a healthier way, I can work with you to develop habits and activities that will benefit your whole life. If you're a student (or an educator) looking for customized learning programs I will help you assess your strengths and put into practice strategies that will help you learn more now.

Additional topics have included: leadership development, new employee and board of directors orientations, public/private partnerships, business plan development, creating a learning culture, building informal networks, finding your purpose, work/family integration, and many more. Our time together will likely occur in person, over email, on the phone, and through a blend of all.

How to begin:  Summarize in an email what you are looking to learn. In the email, include your full contact information, the best time to reach you, and any other pertinent details that will help me determine if I'm the right person to help. I will contact you to set up a time to talk that's agreeable to both of us.
